biography

John Carl Dunlap has over 45 years experience in ceramic engineering, manufacturing, and most recently, masonry promotion. He keeps his customers up to date with the latest solutions in masonry systems and unique products.  He works in person or by phone with designers regardless of project size or location. 

Carl grew up in the brick business and learned from his father and college professors the history, and the many intricacies, involved in what it takes to make high quality brick products. At 12 years old, his first job in the brick business was driving a forklift helping his Dad load trucks delivering brick to job sites. He has been in numerous brick plants and knows where the unique colors, sizes and textures are made. Fresh out of college with a degree in ceramic engineering and business, Carl traveled North America working for brick manufacturers. They hired him to show them how to make their high temperature kilns more efficient and produce more product while maintaining or improving the quality 

After several years of constant travel, he settled in Dallas, Texas to promote masonry. Over the last 3 decades Carl and his suppliers have influenced the skylines of North Texas.  Carl is married to Laurie. They have two grown sons and one grown daughter. Laurie and Carl enjoy Masters swimming, their outdoors hobby farm, sports, cooking and traveling to name a few.
